Round 7-2008 CARES Appeal Stipend Distribution
The last day to file an appeal was Friday, October 17, 2008. The final appeal determination will be mailed out Monday, November 17, 2008.

CARES Round 8 – 2009

Begin early to collect transcripts, make an appointment with a CARES College Representative to develop or update a PDEP, and begin the process of obtaining, upgrading, or renewing a permit, if needed.

By the CARES Round 8 deadline of June 15, 2009, all returning participants applying at Steps 1-8 must submit a valid and current California Child Development Permit or a Temporary County certificate (TCC)
OR
An online printout from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) showing the permit level and expiration date and stating the application has been approved.

All new applicants applying at Steps 1-8 must submit a valid and current California Child Development Permit, a Temporary County Certificate (TCC), an online printout from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC), or evidence of having applied for a permit by the CARES deadline of June 15, 2009.

Important Dates to Remember
  • April 1, 2009 –- Applications are mailed
  • June 15, 2009 –- Applications are due to partner agencies
  • September 18, 2009 –- Stipend checks are distributed
  • October 16, 2009 –- Appeals are due
  • November 16, 2009 –- Final appeals determinations are made
  • On or before September 15, 2008 –- Start date with current employer
  • June 17, 2008 to June 15, 2009 –- Complete Leadership activities, Professional Development activities, and Professional Development and Education Plan (PDEP). Note: PDEP appointments must be scheduled with CARES College Representatives by June 1, 2009.
